People ask me all the time what my favorite Lucy Score book is.

The honest answer?

There is no such thing as a best Lucy Score book. You simply can’t go wrong with any of them.

I’ve read every Lucy Score book, and every time I think I’ve found my favorite, I read another one and change my mind.

Some make me laugh until I have tears in my eyes.

Some keep me awake far too late because I can’t stop turning pages.

Some make me wish the fictional town was real because I’d move there tomorrow.

All of them left me thinking about the characters long after I’ve finished the last page.

Every one offers something a little different, and that’s exactly why Lucy Score has become one of my automatic-buy authors.

So instead of trying to rank her books-which honestly feels impossible-I thought I’d do something more helpful.

Whether you’re completely new to Lucy Score or simply wondering what to read next, here’s my guide to finding the perfect book based on what you’re in the mood for.

Why I Love Lucy Score

Lucy Score doesn’t just write romance novels.

She creates worlds.

Whether it’s a quirky small town filled with unforgettable neighbors, a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy, a thrilling adventure, or a billionaire romance with incredible chemistry, every one of her books feels like stepping into a place you never want to leave.

One thing you’ll quickly notice is that her books don’t fit neatly into one category.

A small-town romance might also be one of the funniest books you’ve ever read.

A billionaire romance might have some of the best banter you’ve ever experienced.

A romantic comedy might suddenly become a mystery.

That’s part of what makes her books so much fun.

So rather than organizing them by genre, I thought I’d tell you what each series or standalone does best.

Lucy Score Series

Story Lake

Perfect if you’re looking for:

Small-town charm & shenanigans
Laugh-out-loud humor
Found family
A newer series to follow from the beginning

Story Lake is Lucy Score’s newest fictional town, and it already feels like another place I’d happily move to.

The characters are quirky, the romances are heartfelt, and the humor is exactly what I’ve come to expect from Lucy.

The next Story Lake novel is currently scheduled for release in March 2027, and I’ve already pre-ordered it.

Bootleg Springs (with Claire Kingsley)

Perfect if you’re looking for:

Small-town romance
Mystery that unfolds throughout the series
Laugh-out-loud humor
Found family
A completed series to binge

Bootleg Springs remains one of my favorite romance worlds.

The Bodine family alone is worth the trip.

Add an addictive mystery, unforgettable couples, and plenty of chemistry, and it’s easy to see why I recommend this series so often.

For the longest time, I would’ve told you Bootleg Springs was my favorite Lucy Score series. Then Story Lake came along…

Knockemout

Perfect if you’re looking for:

Grumpy heroes
Strong heroines
Found family
Small-town chaos
Unforgettable side characters

If someone asked me what makes Lucy Score’s small-town romances so special, Knockemout would be one of the first series I’d hand them.

If you’d asked me a few years ago where to start with Lucy Score, this would’ve been my answer without hesitation. Then I found Bootleg Springs.

Blue Moon

Perfect if you’re looking for:

Quirky small towns
Charming romances
Community
Laughs
Comfort reads

Blue Moon is one of those series that simply makes you happy.

The town is just as memorable as the romances. This was my favorite series until I found Riley Thorn.

Riley Thorn

Perfect if you’re looking for:

Romantic comedy
Mysteries
Eccentric characters
Something completely different

Imagine if a romantic comedy collided with a murder mystery.

That’s Riley Thorn.

I never expected a romantic comedy/mystery centered in a psychic to become one of my favorite series, but Riley Thorn completely surprised me.

The next book in the series is expected in November 2026, and I’ll be reading it the day it releases.

Benevolence

Perfect if you’re looking for:

Small-town romance
Protective heroes
Emotional stories
Found family

If you’re looking for romances with a little more heart and emotion, Benevolence is a wonderful choice.

Fixer Series

(Mr. Fixer Upper & The Christmas Fix)

Perfect if you’re looking for:

Home renovation
Small-town charm
Holiday romance
Feel-good stories

Both books are warm, funny, and exactly the kind of romances you curl up with on a cozy weekend.

Bluewater Billionaires

Perfect if you’re looking for:

Billionaire romance
Strong heroines
Friendship
Contemporary romance

Lucy Score’s contribution to this collaborative series is such a fun take on billionaire romance because the women-not the men-are the billionaires.

Each book follows one member of a close-knit group of billionaire friends, making the series both glamorous and surprisingly heartfelt.

Sinner & Saint

Most Lucy Score fans know her for laugh-out-loud romantic comedies and unforgettable small towns. The Sinner and Saint books are something entirely different.

These novels lean much more heavily into action, suspense, danger, and high-stakes drama while still delivering the emotional romance Lucy Score is known for.

What makes them especially unique is their structure.

Unlike Lucy’s other series, where each book follows a different couple, Sinner and Saint tells one continuous story across two novels. The second book isn’t simply set in the same world – it picks up where the first leaves off, allowing the romance, suspense, and character growth to unfold over a much larger story.

If you’re someone who enjoys romantic suspense, undercover missions, dangerous villains, and a love story that has time to develop over two books, don’t overlook this series simply because it’s different from Lucy’s small-town romances.

It showcases another side of her writing talent and proves she can build just as much tension as she can write laugh-out-loud banter.

Standalone Favorites

By a Thread

Perfect if you’re looking for:

Billionaire romance
Incredible banter
Amazing chemistry
Grumpy heroes
Enemies-to-Lovers

If I had to recommend one Lucy Score standalone…

This would probably be it.

Dominic and Ally have some of my favorite chemistry Lucy has ever written.

I believe this was hte first Lucy Score book I read. After mourning the fact that I’d reached the last page, I immediately searched for more books by this genius author and went on a binge.

Maggie Moves On

Perfect if you’re looking for:

Home renovation
Small-town romance
Emotional growth
Community

Maggie Moves On quietly became one of my favorite standalones because it’s every bit as much about finding where you belong as it is about falling in love.

The Worst Best Man

Perfect if you’re looking for:

Romantic comedy
Enemies-to-lovers
Witty banter
Laugh-out-loud moments

One of Lucy’s funniest standalones.

Rock Bottom Girl

Perfect if you’re looking for:

Small-town romance
Sports
Romantic comedy
A great comeback story

This one made me laugh, made me cry, and made me swoon. It was a rollercoaster of varying emotions from beginning to end.

Forever Never

Perfect if you’re looking for:

Small-town romance
Suspense
Protective hero
Emotional depth

Forever Never blends romance and suspense beautifully while still delivering all the heart Lucy Score is known for.

Heart of Hope

Perfect if you’re looking for:

Sports romance
Small-town charm
Heartwarming stories

A wonderful reminder that Lucy can write almost anything. I’ll admit, I put off reading this one for quite a while because I wasn’t sure I was emotionally ready for a story that begins with a family grieving a loss. But I trusted Lucy Score, picked itup anyway, and I’m so glas I did. It delivered all the heart, hope, and romance I was hoping for – and then some.

Under Cover Love

Perfect if you’re looking for:

Romantic suspense
Action
Protective heroes
Fast-paced stories

One of Lucy’s earlier novels, but proof that she’s always been able to balance romance with suspense.

If you’re new to Lucy Score, here’s my recommendation based on what you’re in the mood for:

Want some small-town charm?
Start with Knockemout, Bootleg Springs, Story Lake, Benelovence, or Blue Moon.

Need a laugh?
Try Riley Thorn, Rock Bottom Girl, or The Worst Best Man

Love a billionaire romance?
Look for By a Thread or The Price of Scandal (Lucy Score’s contribution to the Bluewater Billionaires series).

Want a little mystery?
Read Bootleg Springs or Riley Thorn.

Looking for an emotional read?
Pick up Maggie Moves On, Heart of Hope, Forever Never, or Rock Bottom Girl.

Love some HGTV vibes and home renovation?
Read the Fixer series or Maggie Moves On.

Need action and suspense?
Start with Sinner & Saint or Undercover Love.

Still Can’t Decide?

My personal recommendation? Start with By a Thread if you want a standalone, or Knockemout if you’re ready to fall in love with one of Lucy Score’s unforgettable small towns.

Honestly…there isn’t a wrong answer.

Final Thoughts

Every time someone asks me what my favorite Lucy Score book is, I smile. Because I could spend the next decade trying to answer that question and wouldn’t have just one.

Not because I don’t love her books. Because they all offer something different.

Sometimes I’m in the mood for Knockemout. Sometimes I want to revisit Bootleg Springs. Sometimes I need Riley Thorn to make me laugh. Sometimes I just want Dominic and Ally’s incredible banter in By a Thread.

That’s why Lucy Score has become one of my favorite authors.

I don’t have a favorite Lucy Score book.

I simply choose whichever world I’m in the mood to revisit.
